The West After School Center Board of Directors is pleased to announce its newest members:

Mrs. Judie Miller

Mr. Sam Hurley

Mr. Dick Schorr

Each of them bring a wealth of community experience and connections to our programs.

We are pleased they have each agreed to serve and help advance our mission.

Dr. Paul Young, Executive Director of the West After School Center was recently elected to the 11-member Board of Directors for the National AfterSchool Association (NAA) based in Boston, Massachusetts. Judy Nee, NAA’s President and CEO, announced Dr. Young’s election to the board at the association’s national conference on March 13 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. “We are pleased to have a national leader with Dr. Young’s experience and influence on our board,” said Judy Nee, NAA President.

“His experience as the president of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) enabled him to feel the pulse and see the professional needs of principals, teachers, and children throughout the country. He has extensive experience as a presenter and speaker and is an accomplished author. Now, wearing the hat of an after school program director, Dr. Young plays a key role in influencing initiatives that extend and create seamless learning experiences for children between their regular and after school experiences. He is the first to have served both NAESP and NAA in this kind of leadership role.

We at the NAA are excited to work with him.”

Please note that the WASC will be closed the week of March 24-28 for replacement of the carpet in our main room. The carpet will be replaced with commercial grade floor tile which will wear better and be easier to clean. The E.L.I. class and food service operation will be maintained and will work around the tile project.
