Cedar Community Learning Center

East Community Learning Center

 Healthy snacks are an important component of the after school programs.  The students at the East Community Learning Center are pictured here eating their muffins and milk after completing their daily walk around the walking track. Mrs. Carpenter is involved with the students at the table where she engages the students in conversation.  When time permits, students may practice their band instruments as part of their homework completion.  Breanna enjoyed practicing for Mrs. Rowe last week.

Tallmadge Community Learning Center

Spring break was great! We hope everyone had a fun and relaxing week off.  The weather continues to be nice and we are taking full advantage of it.  Playing outside on the jungle gym with our friends is a wonderful break between school and afterschool.  We are working on our math and reading skills with the help of Leap Track.  As to our homework, we are getting a lot of work done with the help of our dedicated volunteers! 

West After School Center

MEAL PROGRAMS at the WASC

Busy parents can take advantage of the availability of supper at WASC, Cedar Heights, East, and Tallmadge CLC, Monday-Friday, throughout the year.  The snacks we serve are free, and the supper program (5:30-6:00 pm) is open to any child in our programs. The WASC is the sponsor of the snacks and meal programs for the after school programs serving children at East, West, Cedar Heights, and Tallmadge.

Watch  Healthy Living for Kids weekly on the Lancaster Schools Television Network

The Goals for our Television Program:

1. Create and sustain a community dialogue and awareness campaign that helps every individual learn to make healthy choices about what and how much they eat as well as how much daily exercise they get. 

2. Encourage children to engage in healthy and productive extra curricular activities at home and at school.

3. Teach families how to prepare foods and economical family meals and snacks.

4. Showcase the wealth of community resources and personnel that can help kids and families develop healthy lifestyles.

5. Demonstrate the positive impact and benefits that participation in before and after school programs can have on children's mental health and social development.
