The West After School Center is an independent, non-profit incorporation dedicated to providing programs and services that enrich the

educational, social, and cultural opportunities of students in our community.

The West After School Center is a recipient of federal funding through the 21^st Century Community Learning Center Grant Program. This is the only federal program dedicated to afterschool programs. We have been fortunate to receive these monies and have continued to grow with an annual enrollment of more then 375 children. But there are still many children who need our services. Ohio estimates that more then two million children need an afterschool program. We hope to expand and reach out to some of these children.

The afterschool community provides a vital link between the school day and the families we serve. We communicate with the principals, teachers, and parents to make an extended learning day that is specific for the needs of our children and their learning communities. Learning continues after 3:00 p.m. in a unique style, different from the school day but in a high quality programming model. These programs are the future for many children. They provide time for physical activity and to learn about healthier lifestyles. We enhance their social skills and give them opportunities to explore math, science, the arts, and different career paths. We are helping to prepare them for the future workforce or perhaps a higher education.

Our record has shown that we are an innovative leader, and our goals and expectations are to continue growing. We are a model program in the afterschool community and have welcomed visitors from all over the state and world.
